About The School
What is it that we want to achieve?
To establish a Hotel School that becomes the PRIDE of Emperors Palace, the Peermont Community Benefit Trust, and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
This venture opens up a portal for young, eager and passionate youth to become equipped with the necessary confidence, knowledge and skills to gain employment.
The core focus of this initiative is to address the following points:
- Skills development
- Job creation
- Poverty alleviation
What will the Hotel School’s Value Proposition be?
a. To upskill an individual with more than just practical skills and to ensure the learner is employable with the skills that have been acquired;
b. To qualify learners with an industry and internationally recognized City & Guilds certificate;
c. For the Centre’s qualified talent pool to become industry’s first choice for recruitment based on the quality and calibre of person available;

Talent Field
Who will be recruited?
Local and potential talent from the disadvantaged areas within the Ekurhuleni community, with a balanced representation of the required demographic, specifically race demographics of the country.
What is the qualifying criteria?
A recruiting and selection process that will include:
- Must be from the Ekurhuleni community
- Minimum Matric Certificate
- A CV Application
- Criminal and Background Check
- Numeracy and Literacy tests, Personality and Attitude Assessment
- Panel Interview (if required)

- Waiters: Basic Food and Beverage Service
- Chefs: Basic Food Preparation
- Housekeeping: Basic Housekeeping Services

WAITERS
Total Duration = 1 year each
– 7 week school-based course (At Hotel School)
– 8 weeks practical (At Emperors Palace)
– Balance of year within an industry partner (Practical placement guaranteed)
CHEFS
Total Duration = 1 year each
– 7 week school-based course (At Hotel School)
– 8 weeks practical (At Emperors Palace)

HOUSEKEEPERS
Total Duration = 1 year each
– 5 week school-based course (At Hotel School)
– 8 weeks practical (At Emperors Palace)
